The Center will be built in a “minga” (a Quichua
word that means “working together”) where
the entire community will work together for several weeks
until the project is completed.
The Community Center will be used
for community events and the presentation of personal
growth workshops for parents and young people, which
are now held at the Primary School.
The Library, which will contain
a computer lab with Internet access, will be used extensively
by students attending the Primary School and it will
be open to the community.
The Foundation is currently engaged
in a Book Drive for the Library. We have already collected
several hundred books, written in both Spanish and English,
and we hope to collect thousands more before the Library
opens.
The Community Center will also contain
a small clinic and will serve as the base of operations
for the Technical and Vocational Education Institute
that the Foundation is currently developing.
