We envision a more humane world made possible by helping
adults acquire the knowledge, skills, and values they
need to lead productive and satisfying lives.
We are developing a Technical and
Vocational Education Institute that aims to help young
people and adults, whatever their previous level of
education, to take advantage of the skills they already
have and to develop additional skills related to the
workplace. The Institute will encourage flexible access
to learning and training throughout life and will emphasize
environmentally-sound sustainable development.
The Community
Center and Library that are scheduled to be built in
Spring 2004 will serve as the hub for the Institute
and we are contemplating the potential of the Internet
and other technologies, such as radio, to widen access
to education in rural settings such as the one where
we work.
